What People Say

Thank you (Lisa Goodson) so much for a fantastic visit to P.S. 52. Our kids had a blast! You reinforced the love of reading, poetry, and the craft of writing. The room was electrifying. Kids were jumping out of their seats. And I was stunned by how engaged the kids were.

What an amazing experience! Moms, dads, students, and staff were all so energized and moved. One of my students ran up to me and said, “ I want to be a writer too!” Thank you! This truly has been an excellent experience! I can not wait for the future books.

Mia’s on a Mission to be a Mathematician

This is an empowerment book! Many times in schools I see girls who are intimidated by Math. I wanted this character to represent the many girls across the world who are on a mission to do something great. In this case, Mia is a girl who loves math. She is also unique in her own ways just like each and every one of us. Mia is really all of us because each of us is on a mission to determine our purpose. Our mission is to figure out what we are really good at and to do it to help others! My mission is to contribute to the literature in ways that will engage, entertain, and empower young people to imagine and to create a better world. I believe that this story will empower students all over the world to be true to themselves and to know that they have the power to define who they are and who they aspire to be.

Can Ronnie Reid Finally Read?

Don’t worry boys, my next book is titled, “Can Ronnie Reid Finally Read?” This book shows how this courageous male character is relentless at overcoming his obstacles! Stay tuned for more information! This book shows how the power of friendship can help students to overcome their challenges by building onto their strengths. When readers see themselves in such stories it has the power to inspire them and to stretch the boundaries of their thinking. This is one story closer to closing an academic gap in reading and mathematics. We have the power to allow children to redefine their own destiny by sparking their passions.

PASSION

I loved reading poetry and fiction with courageous characters. I also love bold characters who speak their mind and who are not afraid to stand up for what is right. As a young kid in elementary school, I was not that bold at all! Actually, I was very quiet. I used writing as a way to communicate my ideas. I wake up and go to sleep thinking of ways to close the achievement gaps, one story at a time!”
